Wednesday, August 18th

Special kickoff event: Active Seniors at Highland Park

Join Department of Recreation and Wellness staff for summer games and perhaps a stroll around Highland Park and Wetland Trail. Enjoy snacks, a refreshing beverage, and a cool treat. There will be limited chairs and shade. If you would like to bring your own chairs and umbrellas, staff will be happy to help carry them. In case of rain, the event will be cancelled.

 Thursday, August 19th

10am–2pm 

                 Seniors Day –FREE! A presentation of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 31 in partnership with the Salisbury Community Days Committee, this is open to all seniors. Soup, sandwiches, cookie and a drink. There will be a takeout option as well as local delivery. Please call Judy @ 372-4111 or Ada @ 372-5759 to pre-register.

2–3pm 

Block Builders – Build with LEGO® at Salisbury Public Library and put it in the library display case for all to see. Registration required (372-3240)

 

 6pm

Arrow Amor Art Camp Mural Ribbon-Cutting – Join Sarah and Mitl of Arrow Amor, the Art Camp kids, and Mayor Campbell for their mural inauguration off MacDonald/Braemar near the lower entrance to the wetland trail. There will also be a mural project video shown with the Highland Park movie.
 8:30pm

 

 

  Movie Night at Highland Park, featuring: Raya and The Last Dragon (2021) –Hosted by the Department of Recreation and Wellness.

    The movie will begin at dusk (around 8:30). Free popcorn and snacks will be available. Bring chairs or blankets to get comfortable!

 

Friday, August 20th

Kids & Family Day –At Highland Park, join Recreation and Wellness staff for outdoor games, scavenger hunt, ladderball, washers, etc. More information at 372-3280.

Button Making – At Salisbury Public Library, design and make your own button

 6pm

Painting Picnic with Arrow Amor – Join Sarah Irving on the lawn between the Dept. of Recreation and Wellness and the Village Office to explore your creative side! Let Sarah teach you how to paint. There will be a few picnic tables available but bring a blanket (and snacks) as well and get comfy on the lawn. In order to have enough supplies and spacing, you are asked to please register by calling 372-3230 or email loriepaterson@salisburynb.ca. There is limited spacing, and only 30 people will be able to be accommodated, so do not hesitate to call or email. FEE: $10 per person.

4:30–6:30pm 

Chicken Salad Dinner –Join Recreation and Wellness staff for a fundraising take-out dinner. Price is $12 per ticket. Tickets can be purchased at Rec and Wellness or at the Village Office at 56 Douglas St.

Lions Club Pancake Breakfast– Drive-thru/Take out. $8 per breakfast.       1393827 middle

Village-Wide Yard Sales – Find that special treasure! Anyone holding a yard sale is encouraged to contact the Village Office prior to Friday, August 13 so it can be added to the village-wide yard sale list/map to be made available at the Village Office. Register at 372-3230 or loriepaterson@salisburynb.ca.

             AND Thanks to CIBC for providing use of their parking lot for a “crafters trunk sale” at this time!

Pickleball Tournament – This will take place at the outdoor courts across from Recreation and Wellness. Email Gerry Williamson gnwilli@nbnet.nb.ca to register. Spots are limited!

Parade Line-Up / Elementary School Parking Lot– All entries must register and be lined up before 11am. Register by calling 372-3230 or email loriepaterson@salisburynb.ca.

Noon Parade (Regular Parade Route) (Rain or Shine) – Please note, for safety reasons, through-traffic on Main Street and River Road will be stopped for the length of the parade. Parade organizers ask that candy NOT be thrown from floats in order to avoid possible injury to children. Individuals may walk beside floats and hand out treats. Musical entrants are encouraged. All rules for motorized vehicles must be abided by.  THERE WILL BE NO TOLERANCE FOR RECKLESS DRIVING.
1–4pm

Market & Food Court * – Local businesses, groups, organizations, or individuals are welcome to run their own stands to sell products (baking, crafts, vegetables, barbecue, etc). Please contact the Village Office to book your spot (at no charge).

Various Food Vendors on Site *Confirmed so far are East Coast Food Truck, JR’s Street Kitchen Food Truck, Horsman’s BBQ, and Jaylin with Cotton Candy.

                                Fun Inflatables (FREE) *

                                Horse and Wagon Rides (FREE) * – A presentation of Recreation and Wellness.

                               Henna Art (FREE) *

                                Face Painting (FREE) *

                                Science East (FREE) * –Exhibits, puzzles, optical illusions, and crowd-pleasing fiery demonstrations!

Deadline for Colouring Contest*– Pick up a colouring contest page at the Village Office at 56 Douglas, or on the Village of Salisbury Facebook page, or on the “Salisbury Gets Social, It’s a Celebration” Facebook event page. Submissions must be received prior to 12pm, August 22nd. WIN PRIZES!

Noon 

Deadline for Craft Challenge * – Pick up your craft bag at the Village Office (Mon–Fri, 8:30am-4:30pm) after August 13th and email a picture of your creation to brookefredericks@salisburynb.ca. Contest closes on August 22nd. WIN PRIZES!

Noon Deadline for Photo Contest Submit your favourite photos from the past 12 months. Classes are:
1) Scenes from Salisbury, 2) Nature, 3) Pets. One entry per class per person. Email entries to brookefredericks@salisburynb.ca by August 22nd. WIN PRIZES!

1–5pm

Free Swim– At Salisbury Lions Pool, come for a free swim! Everyone Welcome!!     

7pm

Hymn Sing– Join Salisbury Baptist Church for an evening of hymn singing in the great outdoors. They will be set up in the parking lot, so bring your lawn chair! (Rain location: SBC sanctuary)

All events followed by * will take place at or near the Salisbury Municipal Building, 56 Douglas Street. ON SATURDAY THERE WILL BE NO THROUGH-TRAFFIC ON DOUGLAS ST. FROM 1PM-5PM. The high school parking lot will be available and after 1pm, parking will be available at Salisbury Elementary School. Saturday afternoon’s event schedule is based on the parade finishing at 1pm. Because of this, times are subject to change according to the length of the parade.

The 2021 Salisbury Community Days Committee would like to thank the local community groups, churches, businesses, and the public for the many donations, and/or volunteer hours they gave to ensure organized events and a parade with wonderful floats and entries.  Your hard work is very much appreciated.
