The Town of Salisbury was proud to host a tourism funding announcement on Friday.
The Hon. Gudie Hutchings, Federal Minister of Rural Economic Development and Minister Responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, visited the Highland Park Amphitheatre construction site where she announced ACOA funding for six projects throughout southern New Brunswick, including Salisbury’s new pedestrian trail.
Kickstarted by Salisbury’s $100,000 top prize in the ParticipACTION Community Challenge, the trail project was further helped by a generous grant of $244,480 from ACOA’s Innovative Communities Fund. Nearly complete, the picturesque trail runs parallel to the Petitcodiac River, stretching from Parkin Street to the recreation grounds just east of the Highland Park Wetland Trail.
