The following represents a summary of decisions from the Regular Council Meeting held by Salisbury Town Council on July 13, 2026. These represent highlights, and are not formal Council minutes, which are posted upon approval at a future Regular Council Meeting.
With the meeting called to order at 6:00 PM, Council began by approving the Minutes for the previous meetings, and also approved a 10-item Consent Agenda.
Presentations
A representative of the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators presented to Council a CAMA Environmental Leadership Award received by the Town in May in recognition of the net-zero ready Salisbury Fire Rescue Station.
Council also:
– hosted the presentation of Green Cross awards to seven Salisbury firefighters in recognition of a rescue using the Hurst Jaws of Life;
– learned about the 580 A/M Hugh Campbell Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron through a presentation by Commanding Officer Jason Forster;
– and accepted the results of a residents survey conducted by consultants Narrative Research for the Town.
Recommendations from Committee and Closed Meetings
Council formally adopted the 2025 Audit of the Town’s books by Ernst & Young, available online at: https://salisburynb.ca/reports-studies/.
Council also:
– adopted the official names of two walking trails;
– approved the recommendation to no longer have a parade during Community Days;
– and authorized signing a Letter of Intent with Horizon Health.
Reports from Administration
Council launched a rezoning process for a housing development plan between Sunrise and Twilight avenues and Karen Court, with dates scheduled for a public presentation at Council and for a public hearing.
Council also:
– took a closer look at new property tax legislation being pitched by the Provincial government;
– elected Councillor Phyllis Bannister to serve as Salisbury Deputy Mayor for the remainder of 2026;
– and adopted the 2025 Annual Report, available online at: https://salisburynb.ca/reports-studies/.
Resolutions
Council approved a gifting agreement between the Town and the Province that will see Salisbury Fire Rescue receive refurbished forest firefighting equipment, and also:
– approved two public access trail easements;
– approved a Conventional Boundary Agreement that will determine formal property lines for Town-owned land on Powers Pit Road;
– and appointed retaining EY as Town of Salisbury Auditors for 2026.
