The following represents a summary of the decisions from the Special Council Meeting held virtually by Salisbury Town Council on June 10, 2025. These represent highlights, and are not formal council minutes, which are posted upon approval at a future Council meeting.
The Special Meeting was held in-lieu of the Regular Council Meeting initially scheduled for June 9.
Adoption of Agenda
- Council amended the agenda to consider a second By-law amendment, a resolution to amend Schedule B of the Town’s Traffic By-law.
By-laws
- Council had third reading of By-law No. 16, Town of Salisbury Municipal Plan and By-law No. 17, Town of Salisbury Zoning By-law, consolidating the former Westmorland Albert Rural Plan and the former Village of Salisbury Zoning By-law and Municipal Plan. These documents will not take effect until registered by the Province.
- Council amended Schedule B of the Town of Salisbury’s Traffic By-law (By-law No. 15), authorizing Council to make temporary amendments to speed limits on local (municipal) streets for public safety considerations, events, or other considerations at the discretion of Council. Town Council then passed a resolution to temporarily reduce the speed limit on Parkin Street and Larsen Lane from 50km/h to 30 km/h from Wednesday, June 11, 2025 to Friday, August 1, 2025. Additional information on this temporary change, in light of a nearby project under the jurisdiction of the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, is available online here.
Next Meeting:
The next meeting of Council will be held on June 23, 2025 for a Committee of the Whole Meeting. The next Regular Council Meeting will be held on July 14. The next edition of Council Highlights will be posted after the July Council Meeting.
