The following represents a summary of decisions from the Regular Council Meeting held by Salisbury Town Council on October 14, 2025. These represent highlights, and are not formal council minutes, which are posted upon approval at a future Regular Council Meeting:

Consent Agenda:

Council’s approval of the Consent Agenda covered:

  • Plan360’s Building Permit report for Salisbury that showed 11 permits issued in the town in September carrying a total estimated construction value of $2,742,174.
  • Acknowledgment and thanks from Petitcodiac Valley Golf and Country Club’s Golf for the Girls Committee for a fundraiser donation received from the Town.

Reports and Recommendations from Committees and Private Meetings:

Following up on discussion in Committee of the Whole on Sept. 22, Council approved Salisbury’s share of the 2026 Southeast Regional Service Commission Budget, the Town’s portion totalling $1,095,525, a 2.57% increase from the previous year. Services provided include Eco360, Plan360 and regional waste collection, among others.

Reports from Administration:

Reports from Administration saw passage of three motions:

  • Council awarded a three-year contract for Janitorial Services to Crystal Clean Maintenance for a low bid of $41,196.04 excluding HST.
  • Council also awarded a three-year contract for snow removal at the new fire hall to MacNichol Landscaping Supplies for a low bid of $114,000 excluding HST.
  • Council approved a grant of $360 to Salisbury Taekwondo for the Debbie Bannister Memorial Tournament.

By-laws:

Under By-laws, first and second readings were held for a revised By-law No. 15, the Traffic by-law, which will be amended to introduce a new schedule to the by-law allowing the Town to designate No Parking zones, following up on a request from the Lions Club concerning the northeast side of Peter Street.

Information discussed in Closed Session was protected by Sections (1)(c) (covering items of a financial nature) and (1)(d) (pertaining to land) of the New Brunswick Local Governance Act.

Next Meeting:

The next meeting of Council will be held on Oct. 27 at 6:00 PM for Committee of the Whole. The next Regular Council Meeting will be held on Nov. 10 at 7:00 PM. The next edition of Council Highlights will be posted after that November meeting.
