It has been a great year for development in Salisbury, thanks to a banner Summer construction season.
In 2024, total construction value was $19.03 million, which included the Salisbury Fire Rescue Station (which represented over a 50% increase from 2023). This number has been far surpassed to-date in 2025. As of the end of the third quarter (January-September 2025), over $31.4 million in construction value has been issued in permits, over 65% more than the full 2024 calendar year. In 2024, permits included 25 new housing units through 24 permits. To date in 2025, permits have been issued for 35 units, including an eight-unit building.
Key to this are large projects in the Town this year, including a new Government of Canada building under construction at the corner of Fredericton Road/Silver Fox Drive (see pictures), as well as an eight-unit apartment building going up on Dundee Drive, and a new Provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure garage built on Route 106 in River Glade.
“2025’s permit activity demonstrates that the intentional efforts of Town Council are producing the intended results,” says Mayor Robert Campbell. “With the completion of the Salisbury Fire Rescue Station this year, all three levels of government are investing in institutional buildings in the Community. This, and our significant year-over-year increases in permit values, is a testament to the ongoing period of growth for our community. We look forward to ongoing increases to our unit count and permit values.”
As of the end of August, the Town was ranked fourth for the highest permit values in the Southeast region in 2025 for communities serviced by Plan 360 of the Southeast Regional Service Commission, trailing Riverview, Tantramar, and Shediac. In July and August, the Town permit values topped the list of the 10 communities serviced by Plan360.
