On August 15, 2025, the Town met with Rogers Communications as part of our ongoing dialogue to request improvements to cellular reception in our Community.
During this meeting, the Town was advised that the Rogers tower installed on Main Street is expected to be operational in early 2026. While the tower is installed, the telecommunications software is not.
Following the meeting, the Town also forwarded the update to Bell looking for an update on their efforts, requesting again that they leverage this existing infrastructure to improve service for their customers. As the Town has communicated on Bell’s behalf before, resident-driven complaints are beneficial. Residents are encourage to contact their provider(s) directly, ensuring they are aware of specific locations to log where you do not have service.
While the Town, and all cellular clients, are at the mercy of private providers, the Town recognizes the inherent public safety risk with such lack of cellular reception. The Town will continue to advocate to the primary providers to stress the importance of both activating the new tower, in addition to leveraging this infrastructure to benefit customers, regardless of providers.
