In recognition of a 2025 rescue using the Hurst Jaws of Life at the scene of a motor vehicle accident, seven members of Salisbury’s volunteer fire department have received the Green Cross Award.
Fire Chief Brad MacLeod made the presentations on July 13, 2026, to Captain Roy Steeves and Firefighters Brandon MacLeod, Sean Ring, Justin Smith, and Stephen Stevens. Unable to be in attendance were Captain Ron MacEachern and Firefighter Gilles Allard.
Meantime, at the same meeting of Salisbury Town Council on Monday, the Town was presented with an Environmental Leadership Award by the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators in recognition of the net-zero ready Salisbury Fire Rescue Station that opened last Fall. As a member of the CAMA Board of Directors, the presentation was made by Shediac CAO Yves Leger. The award was originally announced at the CAMA national conference in May.
