In order to apply, students must submit their resume by March 8, 2024. Please note that interviews may be conducted prior to the closing date, so applicants are encouraged to apply early.

The Town of Salisbury encourages applications from returning Summer students. While all positions are compensated above the current minimum wage, the Town incentivizes returning students for multiple years of service with the Town.

Salisbury Lions Pool Lifeguards
  • Job Location: Salisbury Lions Pool, 63 Peter Street
  • Starting Wage: $16.25
  • Anticipated Start Date: End of June 2024
  • Job duties include, but are not limited to: Instruct swimming lessons, assist with pool maintenance (e.g.: chemical readings), supervise swimmers and ensure safety, collect payment for open swim(s)
  • Additional Information: Consideration will first be given to Lifeguards who are returning for employment at the Salisbury Lions Pool and those who have their Nationals Lifeguard Certification and Instructors Course.
Camp Counsellors
  • Job Location: 56 Douglas Street, Salisbury
  • Starting Wage: $15.50
  • Anticipated Start Date: End of June 2024
  • Job duties include, but are not limited to:
    One (1) candidate will be selected as the Head Camp Counsellor and will begin their employment earlier to assist the Town with organizing programming, supplies, etc. for camps and throughout the Summer will be the direct supervisor of the other camp counsellors. All camp Councillors will be responsible for administering day camps, including running programming, leading activities, participating in day trips, etc.
Parks and Works Maintenance Assistants
  • Job Location: 56 Douglas Street, Salisbury
  • Starting Wage: $15.50
  • Anticipated Start Date: May for Supervisor, End of June for All Positions
  • Job duties include, but are not limited to:
    One (1) candidate will be selected as the Supervisor of the Summer Crew. All candidates will be responsible for mowing lawns, maintaining garden beds, assisting with park maintenance, watering flower baskets, etc.
  • Additional Information: This position will mostly entail working outdoors in many weather conditions. Applicants who have had a full drivers license are encouraged to apply and state this during the application process.
Municipal Engineering Assistant
  • Job Location: 56 Douglas Street, Salisbury
  • Starting Wage: $16.10
  • Anticipated Start Date: TBC based on applicant
  • Job duties include, but are not limited to: Undertaking visual inspections of municipal streets, updating the Town’s Asset Management Plan to reflect updated street conditions, cataloguing street conditions, implementing a street condition monitoring software for the Municipality.
  • Additional Information: The successful candidate must be a student in an engineering program and must have a drivers license with at least one (1) year of driving experience. This position may be subject to funding.
Field Labourer
  • Job Location: 56 Douglas Street, Salisbury (Baseball and Soccer Fields)
  • Starting Wage: $15.50
  • Anticipated Start Date: End of June, although causal employment may begin by May
  • Job duties include, but are not limited to: Maintaining soccer and baseball fields, including mowing, whipper snipping, lining fields, grooming fields, and general groundskeeping (garbage removal, cleaning washroom, etc). While not grooming fields, this position will assist with programming and activities with local seniors homes and miscellaneous events with the Recreation & Wellness Department.
  • Additional Information: Successful candidate must have their full drivers license, including at least one (1) year of driving experience. Must be capable of driving a half-ton truck while hauling a trailer/mower and have completed, or be willing to complete, a trailer safety course. This position may not entail Monday-Friday hours, given it will be on standby and assist during tournaments and activities for the Town’s sporting associations (baseball and soccer).
