On September 21, 2026, the Town of Salisbury held a Public Hearing under the Community Planning Act for the proposed Sunrise/Twilight Subdivision.
Leading up to, and as part of, the Public Hearing, the Town received a number of inquiries relative to the proposed development. While many questions have been addressed through detailed engineering reports and previous consultation phases while the project underwent evaluation under the Environmental Impact Assessment Act, the Town committed to publishing an FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for those who are interested in having formal responses to their questions.
The FAQ can be read online here.
Publishing of an FAQ following a public hearing is not typical. However, where the Town is the current landowner and the Applicant, the Town recognizes the importance of providing this information to those who may be interested. The publishing of this FAQ is not to be constituted typical practice for future rezonings and/or land use adjustments. This is an exceptional circumstance where the Town is the Applicant and, therefore, is publishing additional information relative to the proposal.
With the opportunity for public presentations to Council now completed, Council will consider formal readings of the proposed By-laws at future Council Meetings. Based on current schedule, it is expected that Council will consider first and second readings at the October 13, 2026, Regular Council Meeting. Should this pass, Council is expected to consider third reading at the November 9, 2026, Regular Council Meeting. Residents should consult the agenda(s) for Town Council Meetings, in the event that this schedule is modified. Agendas can be found online here: https://salisburynb.ca/municipal-office/council-meetings/.
The Town recognizes that many residents who are opposed to the project may not be supportive of the answers provided; however, the Town has remained committed to being forthcoming with information through both the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) phase in 2025 as well as the ongoing consultation process under the Community Planning Act. The project-specific webpage will continue to be updated in the coming months, should the proposed rezoning proceed. The project webpage can be consulted at: https://salisburynb.ca/sunrise-twilight-subdivision/.
The Town appreciates the participation of those who have engaged thus far through the process, including during the Public Hearing on September 21.
