Today, the Town was informed by CIBC that they have made a business decision to permanently close their physical branch in Salisbury, effective April 15, 2027.
The Town is deeply disappointed by this decision, especially given CIBC’s nearly 100-years operating in our community. We recognize that this closure will have a significant impact on many residents, businesses, and organizations in our Town, especially for seniors and locally-based businesses. We have expressed the disappointment and concern from the Municipality to CIBC directly.
The Town has been informed that CIBC will have a dedicated line for clients to ask questions during the transition. Questions and inquiries should be referred to them directly. The Town has, however, requested that the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC) direct CIBC to host a Town Hall for those affected by the Closure and have offered our assistance to CIBC on facilitating such an event.
Our thoughts are with the employees and clients that are most-affected by this decision.
