The Town of Salisbury wishes to advise motorists of increased bicycle traffic on Sunday, May 26, 2024 between 11:00 AM-3:00 PM on certain roads within the Town of Salisbury for the purposes of the Salisbury Road Race in partnership with Vélo NB.

  • Location: The race will begin at the Salisbury Guardian Pharmacy (3154 Main Street, Salisbury). The race route will travel along Route 106 (Main Street) to Homestead Road, then along Homestead Road to Sanatorium Road. Cyclists will then travel along Sanatorium Road to reach Salisbury Back Road, where they will complete one, or a series of, loop(s) (depending on their classification) along NB Route 895, Bannister Road, and then Grub Road.
  • Time: 11:00AM-3:00PM
  • Event Details: The Salisbury Road Race will have approximately 60 cyclists participating in the race in different timed heats. The race is being held by the Town of Salisbury in partnership with Vélo NB and will feature cyclists from across the Province.
  • Traffic Impact: No road closures are anticipated during the course of the race. Motorists can expect additional bicycle traffic, which may lead to potential delays, and are reminded to share the road(s) for the duration of the race. This includes maintaining a minimum of 1-metre (3 feet) distance when passing cyclists, slowing down when necessary, crossing the yellow line if safe to do so with no oncoming traffic, and looking for cyclists at all times. At main intersections, cyclists will stop with vehicle traffic. Motorists are urged to exercise caution along the entire race route for the duration of the event, since cyclists will be racing in different classifications, and therefore at different times at different areas of the route, for the duration of the event.

The Town appreciates the cooperation and understanding of motorists during this event.
