The Town of Salisbury welcomes the recent release of the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure’s latest three-year plan, The Road Ahead, which includes a long-awaited public confirmation of the Province’s intent to replace the P380 bridge in 2027 (see page 29).
Like many communities across the Province, the Town has several Provincial assets that require immediate attention. However, other communities have competing demands, and a project of this scale requires significant capital investment and pre-planning.
Earlier this year, the Town met with the new Minister to request re-assurance of the replacement and to consider an expedited replacement. In a letter dated January 27, 2025, the Minister confirmed that expediting the project was under consideration and that the Department continues to proceed as quickly as logistics for the project allow. The Town has also been in contact with counterparts at the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure on preliminary design plans for the bridge, and will be undertaking adjacent infrastructure work in 2026 in preparation for the replacement.
The release of the updated capital plan constitutes a firm public commitment that is welcomed by the Town. The Town appreciates the ongoing work of DTI to replace these assets that have been long-awaiting replacement.
