The Town of Salisbury wishes to advise motorists and residents of the updated construction/detour plan for a capital project on Main Street (Route 106) at the intersection of Main Street and Reeder Road.
Between Tuesday, July 22 and Friday, August 8, the Town will be replacing the wooden box culvert under Route 106.
During the first phase of the work, the Town has authorized a full closure of Route 106 (Main Street) in both directions at the culvert location. This closure will last from Tuesday, July 22 to Friday, July 25. The detour will be via Main Street (Route 106) >> Scott Road >> Homestead Road >> Fredericton Road >> Main Street (Route 106), in both directions. During the closure, detour signage will be in place.
Residents of Reeder Road will still be able to access Route 106 (Main Street), but will be required to access the road from the Western side, via the detour.
The Town has also notified emergency personnel, and measures are in place for mutual aid response for Salisbury Fire Rescue, if/as needed.
For the remainder of the project, outside of the anticipated closure period, traffic control will be in place.
This underground culvert crossing a Provincial highway is a municipal responsibility, given the Town’s storm system is directly connected to the culvert. The Town is undertaking this replacement to prevent further erosion on the road and to ensure proactive management of the underground assets.
The Town reminds motorists to be vigilant for construction signage and to respect the directions of traffic flaggers and detours. Should additional updates arise, the Town will communicate them as quickly as possible.
